Posted: February 03, 2012 by David Rosenfeld

Canon Europe said Tuesday that it had acquired Dutch-based Delft Digital Imaging, strengthening Canon’s position in the medical imaging arena, according to a press release.

Delft specializes in software for sharing digital images as well as digital x-ray imaging systems. Delft has been a distribution partner of Canon in The Netherlands and Belgium for the past 10 years.

Ryoichi Bamba , president & CEO of Canon Europe says the company is focusing on medical imaging as an important area for future growth.

“We believe this investment and expansion of the medical business will bring new opportunities to build on our success in the digital radiography and eye care sectors to date,” Bamba says in a press release.
