Honorary Membership in RSNA is bestowed upon those who have contributed significant achievements in the field of radiology. For this year, Honorary Membership will be presented to Giovanni G. Cerri, M.D., Ph.D., of São Paulo, Brazil, Mukund S. Joshi, M.D., of Mumbai, India, and András Palkó, M.D., Ph.D., of Szeged, Hungary, according to RSNA News magazine, October-November issue.
Giovanni G. Cerri, M.D., Ph.D., is recognized for his work in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, where he addressed issues such as organ transplantation, child mortality, and the need for more hospital beds. Cerri attracted international colleagues to South America for academic conferences like the World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (WFUMB), Latin American Federation of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology, and Radiological and Diagnostic Imaging Society of São Paulo. He served in numerous leadership positions, including president of both the São Paulo Radiology Society and the Brazilian College of Radiology.
Mukund S. Joshi, M.D., a consultant radiologist at Jaslok Hospital and Research Center and medical advisor at Kohinoor Hospital, both in Mumbai, has worked tirelessly to promote ultrasound in India and abroad. He established India’s first teaching program in ultrasound. He has served as editor of many journals, worked on national committees, and organizational leadership positions, such former president of the Indian Radiological & Imaging Association.
András Palkó, M.D., Ph.D., co-founded the first European Day of Radiology in 2011, which was celebrated by 19 European radiological societies. Palkó serves as professor and chair of the Department of Radiology at Szeged University Medical School in Hungary, and has built his reputation on CT and MR imaging of the gastrointestinal tract, and MR imaging of the liver.
