Since 1983, Curtis Kauffman-Pickelle has been in the forefront of radiology communications. As the publisher of Applied Radiology magazine and the founding publisher and editor of Imaging Economics magazine, Curtis established a new, higher standard for reporting on the critical issues that affect every area of this vital health-care segment.

Cheryl Proval - Vice President Publishing
Cheryl Proval is vice president of publishing for imagingBiz and editor of Radiology Business Journal, RadInformatics and HealthCXO. In 2006, she helped launch the monthly e-journal ImagingBiz.com with Curtis Kauffman-Pickelle. In 2008, they launched a next-generation print journal, Radiology Business Journal.
Prior to joining imagingBiz, Cheryl served as publisher and editor of Imaging Economics, a position she held for nine years. A 35-year veteran of the publishing industry, she graduated from the University of Delaware with a bachelor’s degree in History, and she continues to be intrigued by the stories that shape our world.
Cat Vasko - Editor
Cat Vasko is the editor of ImagingBiz.com, RadAnalytics, HealthIT, Medical Imaging Review and an accomplished writer whose in-depth features, news, and case studies are familiar to readers of all imagingBiz publications. She launched the company’s meeting-coverage blog, StatRead, in 2008, and is the resident social-media expert, maintaining the imagingBiz Facebook page and delivering regular tweets to the industry via Twitter. She holds a master’s degree in English from Boston University

Kris Kyes is technical editor for imagingBiz. As an editor and writer, she has been covering the business of health care since 1985; before that, she was a medical librarian involved in MEDLINE projects in the Middle East and in US teaching hospitals. She holds bachelor’s degrees in Informatics and Modern Languages.
Lena Kauffman - Web Editor
Lena Kauffman is Web editor for imagingBiz. She is a graduate of the Northwestern University Medill School of Journalism. She edited a number of health-care publications for Medical World Communications, including Home Health Care Dealer/Provider and Sleep Review. Lena also has an extensive background in medical group marketing, having spent three years as a writer/editor for the Palo Alto Medical Foundation.
Sharon Fitzgerald, Associate Publisher
Sharon Fitzgerald is Sales & Marketing Director of Radiology Business Journal and a 30-year veteran in business-to-business advertising sales. She was a senior sales representative for Thomas Publishing for 10 years and a regional sales manager with Reed Business Information for 14 years with factory-automation, engineering, and commercial-construction publications. Prior to joining RBJ, she was associate publisher for a plastic-surgery journal. She brings experience, integrity, and humor to the Radiology Business Journal team.
Patrick Walling, Art Director
Patrick Walling is art director of Radiology Business Journal. Previously, he was art director of Imaging Economics and Medical Imaging magazines, and he has been working in the graphic-design field for the past 13 years. He graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a bachelor’s degree in Applied Art and Design.
Robert Elmquist, Webmaster
Robert Elmquist is webmaster for the imagingBiz portal and publications. Previously, he held the position of production manager and web developer for Medical World Communications and Ascend Media for years. He got his start in publishing as managing editor for Gamefan Video Games.
With over 25 years of marketing experience - nine years as a former Vice President of Marketing for a leading healthcare marketing company - Steve has consistently developed effective strategies to help fuel the growth of countless healthcare enterprises. Since 2007, Steve has specialized as a marketing and business development consultant to medical imaging facilities nationwide.
