Belgium-based Barco Inc., a global technology company that specializes in display monitors, has acquired UK-based JAOtech, a leading manufacturer of bedside terminals for hospitals.
Barco executives say the move improves the company’s presence in the expanding point-of-care market.
“This acquisition fits in our long-term vision of penetrating a wide range of healthcare segments,” says Piet Candeel, Barco senior vice president in a press release.
JAOtech’s Smart Terminals are fully customizable for providing staff with secure access to EMR and HIS at the bedside while patients are offered an array of educational and entertainment features.
“Today's hospitals set extremely high standards when it comes to patient care and comfort. However, a fast growing and aging population calls for major efforts from hospitals and staff to continue to operate efficiently”, says Eric Van Zele, Barco's President and CEO in a press release. “For that reason, hospitals need advanced technologies that help improve workflow and hospital productivity.”
