The American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) named Deborah J. Bowen, FACHE, CAE, president and chief executive officer of the organization. Bowen, 57, will assume the role May 13, 2013, and succeed Thomas C. Dolan, PhD, FACHE, CAE, upon his retirement after 22 years of service.
Bowen has been a part of ACHE since joining the staff in 1992. She has served as director, Government Relations; vice president, Division of Administration; and executive vice president and chief operating officer. Bowen spearheaded the organization’s first state-level Baldrige application, which resulted in receipt of the Illinois Performance Excellence Bronze Award.
“I look forward to continuing ACHE's great history of preserving the prestige of the credential and delivering high caliber, relevant programs that help executives address the challenges they face,” said Bowen in the press release. “Healthcare is at a critical crossroads, and the work of our members in leading organizations through this transformation has never been more important to delivering patient care."
