With the age of digital imaging comes new considerations that radiologists had not previously thought about, such as resolution size of a digital image.
San Diego-based DR Systems recently received a new patent for a way to track portions of a medical image that are displayed according to certain parameters like resolution.
At times, portions of a medical image might be displayed at a different resolution, which could obscure an abnormality. The technology DR Systems developed fits into the company’s Unity PACS module and provides radiologists with information on portions of the image that display in full resolution versus those that display at lesser.
“For certain medical images, it is important and/or required that a user view all of a medical image at a particular resolution (e.g., full resolution) so that minute, but important, indicia in the medical image are not missed,” a press release states.
