In advance of California’s July 1, 2012, deadline for reporting CT dose metrics, the University of California Dose Optimization and Standardization Endeavor (UC-DOSE) Project has published guidelines for complying with the law.

Funded by the University of California Office of the President, the objective of the UC-DOSE collaborators is to standardize and optimize CT protocols across the UC system and develop a consistent solution for responding to the Medical Radiation Safety Act, enacted by SB 1237, which was introduced and passed in response to reported instances of CT over-radiation.

The document contains recommendations for addressing major provisions of the law, including dose reporting requirements, facility accreditation, and medical event reporting, along with dose calculation examples for reference.
