Advance Painting Services, an industrial radiography company based in Grand Junction, Colorado, is facing nearly a quarter-of-a-million dollars in fines from the state Department of Public Health and Environment related to alleged improper handling of radioactive materials.

According to a local CBS station, the Department found fault with the company’s unlicensed use of radiography equipment and alleged that worker safety concerns were also at issue. The state found a number of violations from interfering with an investigation to failing to provide personal dosimetry devices to workers. The company has 30 days to pay the fine or to request a hearing.
