Microsoft Executes HealthVault Upgrade
Microsoft Health Solutions Group today announced the upgrade of its HealthVault Connection Center to support the inclusion of images in online health records maintained by Microsoft HealthVault account-holders. With the upgrade in place, individuals who maintain online health records through the HealthVault personal health record application platform can upload images from DICOM CDs and DVDs to those records. They can also download their images to CDs and DVDs for sharing with health care providers, as well as burn new discs with viewers and "autoplay" behavior, notes Sean Nolan, chief software architect, Microsoft Health Solutions Group. To address security concerns, a special code that creates unique encryption keys for every image has been developed. The code stores the keys in Microsoft Health Solutions Group’s core HealthVault data center. Only encrypted, “chunked” data are sent to the Microsoft Azure cloud –based platform, Nolan notes.
