Sony Medical recently introduced the MD2GO™, a remote HD IP camera system from designed to enable HD video communication between remote parties, including multiple radiologists, radiologists and referring physicians, and radiologists and their patients.
With a PC and Microsoft Internet Explorer®, a radiologist using the system can view another other party in HD video and conduct a two-way audio conversation from virtually any location at any time. Among multiple radiology applications for the MD2GO™ are the observation of interventional radiology procedures in the operating room, patient monitoring following a procedure, and teaching.
In addition to enhancing communication between parties, the system reportedly offers are cost-saving benefits and the potential for reimbursement that will increase its adoption in radiology departments throughout the U.S.
MD2GO utilizes the Sony SNC-RH124 IP robotic HD camera, whose 10X lens is said to enhance picture quality. A rolling stand, designed specifically for medical applications, may be positioned anywhere in the room and has a telescopic pole that adjusts to a height of 77 inches to 87 inches.
The system also includes a built-in speaker with volume control and an integrated Sony PCSA-1 microphone provides crystal clear sound quality. HD video and stills can be recorded via mouse click and stored locally on a PC.
