San Francisco outpatient diagnostic imaging provider Fusion Diagnostic Group LLC has been purchased by the California Pacific Medical Center, part of the not-for-profit Northern California healthcare network Sutter Health.
Sutter Health, based in Sacramento, encompasses 48,000 physicians, employees and volunteers who care for patients in more than 100 Northern California cities and towns. Like other large health care providers, it aims to provide an integrated network of care where all services are provided through its network and leakage of patients to outside providers is decreased.

Acquiring successful outside providers and making them part of Sutter Health fits well with such a strategy. Fusion Diagnostic Group (FDG) is a leading provider of PET/CT imaging studies in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. According to River Corporate Advisors, LLC, which advised the group during the sale, FDG was the volume leader in the Bay Area, commanding a majority market share prior to the sale.
