Radiographer-Turned-Fashion Designer Knits Inspiration from Brain Scans
Fashion designer-cum-radiographer Brooke Roberts found a creative use for discarded x-ray calibration films, and her new line of women's fashion reflects the cerebral nature of her inspiration. With the aid of the Allen Institute for Brain Science, Wired reports that Roberts turned a love of imaging symmetry into high art, reviving a knitting technique that relies upon industrial programming to create vividly patterned designs. Roberts' designs are selling in London for a few hundred dollars apiece. No word yet on whether insurance providers will reimburse purchasers for the cost of her garments.
